FLIGHT OF ANGELS — SEEN FROM THE ZIMBABWE SIDE

Victoria Falls Helicopter Flight: Short Scenic vs Long Game Flight, Explained

A helicopter flight over Victoria Falls is the one perspective you can't get from the ground — but there are two very different flights on offer, and choosing the wrong one is an easy way to overpay or miss what you actually wanted to see. This guide compares the short scenic flight and the long game flight honestly, with typical current pricing and what's genuinely included.

The short answer

The short scenic flight (around 12–13 minutes) covers only Victoria Falls and Batoka Gorge — the classic aerial view of the full width of the Falls. The long game flight (around 25–30 minutes) covers the same Falls and gorge view, then continues over Zambezi National Park for aerial wildlife viewing. Neither flight is included in your stay at Mutsviri Game Lodge — both are optional extras, arranged through our local helicopter partner and paid separately.
~12–13 MINUTES

Short Scenic Flight

A tight circuit over Victoria Falls and Batoka Gorge at around 1,500 feet, with bubble windows for an unobstructed view. Up to six passengers per helicopter.
Best for: first-time visitors, families and photographers with limited time who want the classic Falls-from-above view.
Typical current pricing: around US$145 per person, plus fuel levy and government fees, confirmed at the time of booking.
~25–30 MINUTES

Long Game Flight

The same Falls and gorge view as the short flight, extended with a flyover of Zambezi National Park for aerial wildlife sightings — elephant, buffalo and, on some days, giraffe.
Best for: wildlife-focused travellers and photographers who want changing light and multiple angles, not just the Falls.
Typical current pricing: around US$265 per person, plus the same fuel levy and government fees, confirmed at the time of booking.

Who flies the helicopter

Both flights are operated by Chikopokopo Helicopters, based about five minutes from Mutsviri Game Lodge. We arrange the booking on your behalf as part of your stay planning, but the flight itself is a separate, directly paid activity.
