Turn Victoria Falls into a private safari stay without the town rush, hotel changes or planning stress.

Victoria Falls can be seen in a single morning, but the best stays do more than tick off the waterfall. Many travellers want the Falls, safari, lodge time and Chobe / Botswana in one journey without staying in the busy centre of town, moving between accommodations or coordinating several activity providers. Mutsviri gives you one quieter base inside Zambezi National Park: close enough for the iconic Victoria Falls viewpoints, calm enough to feel like a real safari lodge, and supported by one local team that confirms your stay, activities, transfers and border details before you travel.
No rushed stopover. No hotel changes. No guessing what is included. One private base, one local team and one written plan before you travel.

A CALMER VICTORIA FALLS SAFARI

Why stay at Mutsviri Game Lodge near Victoria Falls?

Many travellers quickly realise that Victoria Falls is easy to visit but not always easy to turn into a relaxed, complete journey. A town hotel keeps you close to the Falls, but it can also mean traffic, vendors, noise and a more touristy rhythm. A riverfront lodge can feel polished and scenic, but you may still need to coordinate Falls visits, safari activities, Chobe, border details and transfers through different providers.
“Town is practical but will it actually feel relaxing?” “Are three or four nights too much if we are only seeing the Falls?” “Who handles Chobe, Zambia, transfers and border details if we do not want to organise everything ourselves?”
See Victoria Falls, begin safari directly from the lodge and add Chobe without changing accommodation, coordinating multiple operators or navigating cross‒border logistics on your own.
Mutsviri combines a private six‒chalet safari lodge with the local destination expertise of Africa Premier Safaris. One local team coordinates your lodge stay, confirmed transfers, guided activities and Chobe / border‒crossing arrangements, while visa and entry requirements are clarified before travel.

Each chalet features a king‒size bed, a separate living area, refined furnishings and a private viewing deck overlooking the surrounding landscape. Slide 1 of 1
I wanted the dining room open — a three-sixty view where you can see animals — but elevated, for the protection of guests. You're safe from the wildlife, but you can still see them from where you sit.
Abigail Nema, Managing Director, Africa Premier Safaris
I love the bush life. I wanted a proper bed, a proper bathroom, a proper door — but under canvas, in the middle of the bush. Not a small tent.

Questions guests often ask about tented chalets

The word "tent" can sound simpler than the experience really is. These practical answers explain what guests can expect from the permanent luxury tented chalets at Mutsviri Game Lodge.
01

Is a tented chalet like camping?

No. Mutsviri Game Lodge offers permanent luxury tented chalets with proper beds, private space, furniture, refined interiors and the comfort of a safari lodge — with the feeling of canvas, not the discomfort of camping.
Permanent and private — with the feeling of canvas, not the discomfort of camping.
02

Do tented chalets have private bathrooms?

Yes. Every chalet at Mutsviri Game Lodge has its own private en-suite bathroom, so guests never share facilities or walk outside to a separate bathroom block.
Your room and bathroom form one private accommodation space.
03

Am I too exposed to the wild?

You stay close to nature, but within a hosted safari lodge with the local team and a security guard on the property 24 hours a day. After dark, guests are accompanied between their chalet and the main lodge area, so no one needs to walk through the grounds alone at night.
Close to the wilderness, supported by the lodge team day and night.
04

Why choose a tented chalet?

A tented chalet feels lighter in the landscape and creates a closer connection to the surrounding wilderness than a conventional hotel room, while retaining privacy, a proper bed, hot water and private bathroom comfort.
A more immersive safari feeling without giving up comfort.
Safari atmosphere outside. Private lodge comfort inside. That is what six tented chalets at Mutsviri Game Lodge are designed to deliver.
Share your dates and number of guests. The local team will confirm chalet availability, the seasonal rate and the experiences included in your stay.
HOW MANY NIGHTS DO YOU NEED?

How many nights do you need at Victoria Falls?

Many guests first wonder whether two nights are enough, especially with Victoria Falls only around 15 minutes away and game drives departing directly from the lodge. Two nights can work for a focused stop, but once arrival and departure are counted, there is very little room for Chobe, rest or unexpected delays.

A three-night stay usually gives you only two full experience days: one for Victoria Falls and Zambezi safari, and one for the Chobe/Botswana day trip. Three nights are therefore the minimum we recommend for the complete Mutsviri experience, while four or five nights create a calmer pace with more lodge time and fewer compromises.

YOUR STAY, YOUR RHYTHM

How do Victoria Falls, game drives and Chobe fit into one Mutsviri stay?

Most guests travel first for Victoria Falls, then choose Mutsviri because they can add game drives in Zambezi National Park and the included Chobe/Botswana day trip without changing accommodation.
A 3-night stay usually gives you two full experience days. Four or five nights add more flexibility for Zambia, rhino tracking, cultural experiences or simply more time at the lodge.
These are example days within a stay — not one fixed daily schedule.
VICTORIA FALLS

Begin with the reason you came

Visit Victoria Falls in the cooler morning hours, before the busiest part of the day. Depending on your itinerary, this can be combined with time in Victoria Falls town, lunch at Mutsviri or a quieter afternoon at the lodge.
Mutsviri is around 15 minutes from the Falls, allowing guests to experience the main Zimbabwe-side viewpoints without staying in the busy centre of town.
✓ Early guided Victoria Falls visit
✓ Optional Victoria Falls town visit
✓ Return to Mutsviri for lunch or lodge time
✓ No hotel change required
Guided Victoria Falls tour on the Zimbabwe side arranged from Mutsviri Game Lodge
GAME DRIVES FROM THE LODGE

Choose the time of day that suits your stay

Game drives into Zambezi National Park depart directly from Mutsviri, without a separate pickup from Victoria Falls town. Sunrise, afternoon and after-dark conditions reveal different wildlife activity across the stay.
An afternoon game drive can continue naturally into the return journey after sunset, so guests do not need to return for dinner and then leave again.
✓ Sunrise game drive directly from Mutsviri
✓ Afternoon game drive through Zambezi National Park
✓ No separate Victoria Falls town pickup
✓ After-dark viewing where timing and conditions allow
How does the after-dark return work?
If an afternoon drive ends after sunset, the return through Zambezi National Park can naturally continue as an after-dark wildlife experience. Guests who prefer to return directly are driven back to the lodge, while any extended search remains optional and subject to the confirmed itinerary, licensing, guide availability and safety conditions.
An additional drive may occasionally be arranged if nearby lion activity is heard, subject to guide availability and conditions.

INCLUDED WITH THE 3-NIGHT SIGNATURE STAY

One complete day in Chobe, Botswana

The included Chobe/Botswana day trip is a full-day cross-border experience with coordinated road transfers, border-process support, a Chobe game drive, a Chobe River boat safari and lunch before returning to Mutsviri.
Because Chobe uses one full day, a 3-night stay leaves one other complete day for Victoria Falls, a Zambezi game drive and time at the lodge.
✓ Private road transfer from Mutsviri
✓ Border-process support
✓ Chobe game drive
✓ Chobe River boat safari
✓ Lunch and return to the lodge
A LONGER, MORE PERSONAL STAY

Add Zambia — or deliberately do less

With four or five nights, guests can add selected Zambia-side experiences, rhino tracking, a helicopter flight, a town or cultural visit, another safari activity or simply more unhurried time at Mutsviri.
The purpose of a longer stay is not to fill every hour. It is to create more choice, fewer compromises and time to enjoy the lodge without rushing.
✓ Zambia-side experience where suitable
✓ Rhino tracking or helicopter option
✓ Town, culture or additional safari activity
✓ More time in your chalet and at the lodge
Guided rhino tracking in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambia side
The right stay is not about doing everything — it is about having enough time to enjoy what matters.

Three nights allow you to combine Victoria Falls, a Zambezi National Park game drive and Chobe without changing accommodation. Four or five nights provide more flexibility, more lodge time and fewer compromises.
Share your dates and priorities. The local team will recommend the right balance of Victoria Falls, game drives, Chobe and time at the lodge.
BETWEEN THE EXPERIENCES

The moments between the experiences matter too

Full-board meals, selected locally produced beverages and unhurried time at the lodge create the rhythm between Victoria Falls, game drives and Chobe.
Mutsviri is not only a base for activities. It is also a place to pause, share meals and enjoy the surrounding wilderness before the next part of the journey.
MORNING

Breakfast around the day ahead

Whether the morning begins with Victoria Falls or a game drive, breakfast and the rest of the day are coordinated around the confirmed itinerary rather than forcing every guest into one fixed schedule.
Morning meals follow the day's confirmed plan — not the other way around.
MIDDAY

Lunch and time to slow down

Return to Mutsviri for a full-board lunch, followed by unhurried time in your chalet, on the private deck or around the main lodge before the next confirmed experience.
Midday is intentionally left spacious, so the stay never feels like a sequence of back-to-back activities.
EVENING

Dinner at the lodge — or a bush dinner on request

End the day with dinner at the lodge and selected locally produced beverages, or request a special bush dinner where the confirmed itinerary and operating conditions allow.
The evening is designed to feel relaxed and personal after a full day at Victoria Falls, on safari or in Chobe.
Full-board meals · Selected locally produced beverages · Bush dinner available on request
Please share any dietary requirements before arrival. The local team will confirm what can be arranged for your stay.
Time at the lodge is part of the journey

Meals, quiet pauses and the surrounding wilderness give each day space to breathe between Victoria Falls, safari and Chobe.

GUEST VOICES

What guests remember about Mutsviri Game Lodge

Filmed with real guests at Mutsviri — no actors, no scripts.
"It was just really peaceful, quiet, tranquil."
We weren't too sure what to expect. Then we got shown the room — the staff were just amazing, and it's quite overwhelming when you walk in because it's just so big. Even from the outside it looks so crisp and clean. Most hotels wouldn't even have a bathroom that big. It was just really peaceful, quiet, tranquil, in keeping with nature. The food quality is brilliant — I have had no complaints. If someone asked me what my perfect African escape would be, I think this would be just how I'd describe it.
Lisa, Newcastle, UK
"This was my first safari, and it completely blew me away."
This was my first safari, and it has completely blown me away. We left before sunrise with torches, and as we drove, the sun came up behind us across a beautiful skyline. Not far from the lodge we saw a spotted hyena, then found ourselves between two elephants. We saw zebra, jackals, giraffe, warthogs, birds and a tree filled with baboons. It was beautiful and tranquil, and we were the only people around. Our guide's knowledge was astounding — he explained the relationships between the animals in such detail, and we learned so much.

Mutsviri is designed for travellers who want Victoria Falls within easy reach but prefer to sleep inside Zambezi National Park, start game drives directly from the lodge and have transfers, activities and Chobe coordinated by one local team.

Why stay on the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls?

Most first-time visitors choose the Zimbabwe side for the broadest range of classic Victoria Falls viewpoints and the main rainforest trail. Mutsviri is around 15 minutes from Victoria Falls and Victoria Falls Airport, allowing guests to reach the lodge without crossing a border.
Zambia still has an important place in the journey. Seasonal experiences such as Devil's Pool or Angel's Pool and rhino tracking can be added when conditions, entry requirements and the confirmed itinerary allow. The local team coordinates the route, transfers and border guidance before travel.

BIG FIVE, EXPLAINED HONESTLY

The Big Five near Victoria Falls, explained honestly

The Big Five are not found in one place around Victoria Falls. Different species are associated with different parks and experiences, which is why honest itinerary planning matters more than a wildlife checklist.
Here is where each part of the Big Five experience can realistically fit into a Mutsviri stay.
WHERE TO LOOK — AND WHAT TO EXPECT
AROUND MUTSVIRI
Mutsviri and the surrounding Zambezi wilderness

Elephant, buffalo and occasionally leopard

Buffalo and elephants are regularly encountered in the wider landscape around Mutsviri, particularly near water and along wildlife routes. Leopard are present but elusive and require patience, good guiding and good fortune.
Possible around the lodge and during Zambezi National Park activities. No sighting is guaranteed.
ZAMBEZI NATIONAL PARK & CHOBE
Two different wildlife areas within the wider itinerary

Lion in Zambezi — exceptional wildlife in Chobe

Lion sightings are possible in Zambezi National Park, although they are never guaranteed. The included Chobe/Botswana day trip adds another major wildlife area, known especially for large elephant and buffalo populations.
Chobe is included with every confirmed 3-Night Signature Stay. Visa requirements remain separate.
MOSI-OA-TUNYA, ZAMBIA
A separate cross-border experience

Rhino require a dedicated Zambia-side visit

Rhino are not found around Mutsviri or in Zambezi National Park. A guided visit to Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambia side is required for the realistic opportunity to add rhino to a wider Big Five itinerary.
Subject to border requirements, park conditions, guide availability and current entry rules.
The better promise is not "Big Five guaranteed." It is honest guidance on where to look, when to travel and what can realistically be arranged.
BEST TIME TO VISIT VICTORIA FALLS
FALLS, SAFARI OR CHOBE — CHOOSE YOUR PRIORITY

When is the best time to visit Victoria Falls?

There is no single best month to visit Victoria Falls only the best season for what you want most. Come for the thunder and spray of higher water, clearer views into the gorge, prime Zambezi and Chobe safari conditions, or seasonal Zambia‒side experiences such as Devil's Pool or Angel's Pool.

The Zimbabwe side generally offers the most reliable year‒round views of the main Falls. At Mutsviri Game Lodge, the safari rhythm and recommended experiences change with the season, water levels and current conditions.
FEBRUARY – MAY

The Falls at their most powerful

This is usually the most dramatic high-water period, with immense volume, thunder and rising spray — often reaching its strongest point around April and May. The experience is powerful and atmospheric, although heavy mist can sometimes soften close-up views.
Best for: the classic high-water experience, dramatic photography and the full force of Victoria Falls.
JUNE – JULY

Strong water and a beautiful balance

The Falls are often still impressive, while gradually improving visibility can create a rewarding balance between water volume, atmosphere and clearer viewpoints. These months also move into the cooler, drier safari season.
Best for: travellers who want strong Falls, more balanced views and the beginning of prime safari conditions.
AUGUST – OCTOBER

Clearer Falls views and prime safari season

The dry season from August to October brings clearer Victoria Falls views, lower spray and prime safari conditions. These dry months are also especially strong for Zambezi game drives and the Chobe / Botswana day trip, as wildlife often concentrates around permanent water sources.
Best for: safari, Chobe, wildlife photography, clearer viewpoints and warm, dry days.
NOVEMBER – JANUARY

Lower, more variable water and seasonal highlights

This is generally the lower-water and more variable period. Views into the gorge can be clearer, and Zambia-side experiences such as Devil's Pool or Angel's Pool may operate when water levels and official conditions allow. Rainfall may begin to change the landscape towards the end of the year.
Best for: clearer gorge views, seasonal pools, warmer weather and travellers comfortable with more variable conditions.
